Day 40: Morale Boost
I’ve noticed the heaviness of my posts over the last few weeks. Even though this is reflective of a grief process, it isn’t the complete story. When grief is allowed to move through us, our system understands we need breaks from the heaviness, a reprieve. This natural oscillation in grief is what allows for us to catch our breath, get a tiny bit more rest, re-group for the next wave, connect with others, and maybe even enjoy a laugh at something.
When these natural oscillation moments happen for my clients, I tell them to embrace them. I do not see these as distraction, disloyalty, numbness nor a bi-product of blocking one’s grief. I see them as a necessary component to healing.
My dear friend and writer @gowhillikers coined the term, “Morale Boost,” about my bunny and co-therapist, Snowball. Snowball has proved to be a way for me to honor the oscillation that my system needs. Petting his ears, catching him standing guard to our home, and knowing he sits under my chair during each client session brings that morale lift I need some days.
What or who is your morale boost today?

Welcome to my #100dayproject. I am providing a daily offering on #grief, in honor of each person who has trusted me with their story and wisdom during their #griefjourney. I hope that others may benefit from simple and straightforward talk about a topic that can be difficult. Thanks for following and/or sharing.
